HENNESSY
started disc jockeying over twenty years ago in a roller rink
and at house parties for friends. From there, people were
impressed with his work and he started getting requests for his services
for weddings, school functions, corporate parties, etc. His
reputation as a DJ grew and in 1994 he registered Music City DJ Service.
Mel enjoys disc jockeying and chooses to do all the functions himself.
His goal is to ensure that every detail is carried out professionally
and that his clients and their guests at the end of the event are more
than pleased. He ensures that his equipment is up to date and
always has back up equipment so that there is never disruption during a
function. He prides himself on keeping current with music and is
able to meet the clients selection of music whether it be current dance,
rock (new and old), country, contemporary, urban, reggae, etc. Mel’s
dedication to being reliable and professionalism and putting 150% into
every function he does has proven to be well received in the fact that
95% of his business comes from referrals, some two years in advance. Mel
recognizes that each client’s requirements can be very different and
therefore ensures that prior to any function he has a full understanding
of his role (e.g. special songs to be played, taking requests,
particular types of music the client enjoys or does not enjoy,
announcements, games etc). A
good disc jockey is able to read the guests during the function as to
what they want to keep them dancing. Mel is proud of
the fact that his knowledge of music and experience allows him to be
versatile - there is no set music for the night. Mel
will take requests from the audience and work them into his routine;
however, do not expect him to play every request. Many requests are
simply inappropriate for the mood of the event. An excellent DJ is
not a jukebox, but blends requests in with songs that he feels will
properly motivate the crowd. The art of DJ'ing is timing and this takes
some experience. If
